We are all...
...on a journey and none more so than our Year 10’s. They are embarking on a journey of getting to know themselves better and how to be a better version of themselves as God might want it, a journey of Rites. On the 20th Februayr we had a ‘Calling Ceremony’ where we officially kicked off the year. Over 150 parents were present to be part of a welcome, challenges and encouragement from Yr 11’s and the Whakapau Kaha team in Haka and song.
The best ever breakfast followed with bacon, hashbrowns, bread and sauce and a wee healthy apple or peach to boot.
The rest of the day was a rotation of activities from painting posters and rocks, making a necklace from a Paua shell, sports and indoor Te Rakau stick games and team challenges. A good day of fostering belonging, honour and resilience (by the end of the day all were ‘happily tired’). Thanks to God for an awesome day.
Our thanks to the PE staff, Mr O’Neill, Mr Liebert, Mrs Gort, Mrs Hodge, thanks to Mr Sinclair and the 24/7 youth workers for the activity aspects. A special thanks to Matua Pai who was the backbone behind the ceremony.
