Principal's Message - Te Waka Eke Noa
Milford School is fortunate to have a strong parent community, and we are never short of whānau who get stuck in to help out.
Your partnership with the school has an incredible impact on your child's education. When parents and teachers build strong relationships, tamariki reap numerous academic and social benefits, setting the stage for a successful educational journey.
Many of our parents are in school daily, helping with reading, Garden to Table, Waterwise, swimming, sharing expertise about their jobs, helping on trips, etc. For the past few weeks, we have seen numerous parents volunteer to organise the Year 6 leavers function and, of course, the FOMS Colour Run.
Our tamariki are proud (and usually very excited!) when parents and whānau come into school to help, and teachers are grateful for the 'extra pairs of hands' in the classrooms. In addition, fostering a respectful and cooperative relationship with the school and teachers allows for exchanging crucial information, enhancing your child's educational experience.
On a daily basis, there are many ways for parents to be involved that will nurture the parent-school partnership:
Extend a Greeting: A simple hello during school pick-up and drop-off times can go a long way in building connections with teachers and staff.
Communicate Openly: Don't hesitate to ask teachers for information or feedback about your child and share your child's special achievements outside school.
Participate in Meetings: If you have concerns or want an update on your child's progress, don't hesitate to arrange a meeting with your child's teacher.
Stay Informed: Ensure you have the HERO app notifications to stay updated with school news and events.
Engage Actively: We encourage parent helpers, and your child's teacher would love to hear from you if you can help in the class.
Join School Events: Come along to our fortnightly assemblies, attend school performances and cultural events...children enjoy playing to an audience!
We understand that time constraints and work commitments may limit involvement, but your child can still feel the importance of education within your family. Sharing positive sentiments about the school and expressing enthusiasm for school-related activities sends a strong message that education is highly valued.
Your active engagement in your child's educational journey is transformative. Together, we can form a united front to support your child's learning and overall well-being. Te waka eke noa - we are all in this together.
Principals Morning Tea - Friday 10 November
On Friday, 10 November, 8.30-9.30 am, you are invited to an informal morning tea with the Principal. This is an excellent opportunity to share your wondering, ideas, feedback or ask those niggly questions. We look forward to seeing you for a coffee and chat!
FOMS Colour Run - Friday, 27 October
A reminder that next Friday is FOMS Colour Run. More information about the day will be sent by FOMS, but it is important to note that;
- the school day will finish at 3pm and all children will be dismissed from class as usual. From 3pm your child is your responsibility as teachers will be involved in Colour Run organisation.
- all spectators will be on the deck outside Room 18 -21. Please do not come into the 'race area' (this will be roped off)
Please come and support your child and the school...it will be a fun-filled afternoon with a lot of laughs, enjoy the food trucks and perhaps slime a teacher!
We look forward to seeing you there.
