2021 Mediators

Charlotte Barrance —

The 2021 Mediators have now been selected and they are looking forward to being trained and being on duty helping to ensure that Milford School is a safe and happy place for all. The role of the Mediator is not to solve problems for the students but to facilitate the problem-solving process which empowers other students to solve their own problems. There are many skills involved in mediating which require training so that all mediators are confident when they are on duty and helping others. Training will occur across the rest of this term with Term 2 being the official start date for trained mediators on duty in the playground.

We are also very much looking forward to a visit from the Peace Foundation in week 11 when the mediators will receive specialist training support from Christine Burrel. This year, three Year 6 students have been selected for the role of Mediator Captain. These students are already trained and have shown that they exemplify the role of mediator. They will be on hand to support the rest of the mediators throughout the year and will help to ensure the smooth running of Peer Mediation with Mrs Barrance. The Year 6 Mediator Captains for 2021 are: Libby Cho, Martin Ang and Jihae Kim. Congratulations to these captains and to all the Mediators for stepping into such an important role to help boost the Wellbeing of all students at Milford School.
