Music news

Eugenie Middleton —

Music is a great subject for the students because we can often reinforce learning that is done in class in a creative way. Below are some videos of the children in action. The first clip shows the children playing a hand game called Double Double.

They then have to create their own innovation on the game by using their knowledge of compound words.

This next game - the children are encouraged to make letter shapes, followed by making the phonetic sound, number shapes, shapes from their environment and chosen shapes. What a great way to reinforce the structured literacy programme!

Icky Bicky Soda Cracker

In this game of categories, tamariki share their knowledge of colurs in either their own language, Te Reo or French. They are super clever!

I absolutely love playing these games with the children. It really highlights knowledgeable, collaborative and creative they can be.
