Words Around the World Week

Nirelle Armstrong —

In Week 8 of this term, we will be celebrating all things Literacy. Throughout the week, there will be various activities the children will be able to take part in, including visits from guest authors. During the author visits, children will be able to gain valuable insights into what it means to be an author, and how authors work to engage their readers.

During this week, we will also have a Book Swap (more information to come) and a Book Character Parade. The Book Character Parade will be on Thursday the 15th of September. On this day, children come to school dressed in their costumes (that is a character from a book) and stay in this for the day.

This week we had a competition to give our literacy week an exciting name. The winning entry has come from Allegra in Room 21, who came up with the name Words Around the World Week. Mrs Cattell liked how this incorporated the diverse and wonderful cultures that make up our school. Thank you to everyone who entered. There were so many wonderful ideas. It was hard to choose!
