Literacy Week ๐Ÿ“š

Nirelle Armstrong —

In Week 8 of this term, we will be celebrating all things Literacy. Throughout the week, there will be various activities the children will be able to take part in, including visits from guest authors.

During the author visits, the children will be able to gain valuable insights into what it means to be an author, and how authors work to engage their readers. Guest authors include Sally Sutton for Year 0-2, Peter Millet for Years 3-4, and Stu Duval for Year 5-6. These are all well known authors who we think will really inspire the children.

During this week, we will also have a Book Swap and a Book Character Parade.

The book swap is a good opportunity to have a clean out at home of any unwanted books. Here, the children are asked to bring any unwanted books to their classroom where they will be stored, ready for the Book Swap on Wednesday 11th of September. For every book they bring, they will receive a token that they will then be able to exchange for a โ€˜newโ€™ second hand book. We ask that books brought to school are in a reasonable condition and suitable for primary school aged children. It is also okay for children to donate books, without exchanging them for a new book if they donโ€™t find anything they want.

The Book Character Parade will be on Thursday the 12th of September. On this day, the children come to school dressed in their costume (that is a character from a book) and stay in this for the day.
