Assemblies benefit the individual students and our school community as a whole!
At Milford, we believe that assemblies are an important vehicle for us to celebrate and communicate with our community.
Assemblies:
1. Build School Spirit and Community: Assemblies provide a platform for students, teachers, and staff to unite and celebrate school spirit, shared values, and milestones. This can involve singing school songs, participating in cheers, or recognizing the achievements of students and faculty.
2. Communication and Information Sharing: Assemblies offer an efficient way for school administration to share important information with the entire student body simultaneously. This could include announcements about upcoming events, new policies, safety reminders, or updates on school projects.
3. Learning and Inspiration: Assemblies can be used to introduce students to new topics, concepts, or skills engagingly and interactively. This can be done through guest speakers, presentations, demonstrations, or performances related to various fields like science, history, arts, or social issues.
4. Character Development and Social-Emotional Learning: Assemblies can be designed to address important social-emotional learning topics like kindness, respect, bullying prevention, or diversity and inclusion. This can involve interactive activities, skits, or presentations that encourage empathy, responsible citizenship, and positive social interaction within the school community.
5. Celebrating Achievements and Recognition: Assemblies provide a platform to acknowledge and celebrate the achievements of students, both academic and non-academic. This can boost student morale, motivate others, and instil a sense of pride and belonging within the school community.
Our assembly format is to have a singing assembly on even weeks and year-group student-led assemblies on odd weeks. Year 4 is next on Friday, the 15th of March at 2:15 pm and you are all welcome to join us! Keep an eye on the newsletter and the school calendar for when these events will be!
