Our Week of Words

Nirelle Armstrong —

Our Week of Words started off with a visit from Vasanti Unka. Vasanti is the author of Who Stole my Rainbow? along with many other titles. Our Year 1-3 children enjoyed listening to Vasasnti's story of how she became an author and illustrator. She shared key messages around the importance of imagination and that everyone can write the story that is inside them if they put their mind to it.

On Wednesday the Year 4-6 children enjoyed a very humorous visit from James Russell, the author of the Dragon Defenders series. He too shared the importance of imagination and building on your passions.

On Tuesday the annual Book Swap was another favourite of the week. The children loved bringing in used books to swap for 'new' second hand books.

Below are some photos taken at the Book character parade yesterday. It was fantastic to see the children coming to life as their favourite characters.

Overall the children have all had an amazing week focussing on all things literacy. We look forward to doing it all again next year.
