Principal’s Message

Sue Cattell —

Kia ora koutou katoa. Our school have teams in the EPRO8 competition which is an engineering and problem-solving competition, and every year over 10,000 students from 800 schools from throughout New Zealand take part. Teams compete to: build large sized structures, solve practical problems, engineer using pulleys, motors, gears, wheels and axles, construct electronic circuits and solve practical maths problems. We have just heard that our two teams have come 1st and 3rd= in our area competition and both teams go through to the semi-finals. Congratulations to Boston, Alex, Oscar, Kees, Dustin, Chloe, Harry and Beth!

Coming up is the annual Shore to Shore event. As you may remember, this was postponed from earlier in the year and is now being held on Sunday 8 November. This is a great family event and I do encourage you to register if you haven’t already. As a school, we get funds from the organisers that are used for sport equipment (based on our numbers). You just need to go online and register as part of Milford School.

Our Student Led Conferences are being held on Wednesday 4 November. An email has already been sent outlining the booking procedures as each family has 30 minutes in the classroom with their child. A reminder that school will close at 12.30pm that day, so please ensure arrangements have been made for your child from that time.

Have a great long weekend everyone!
