TE WIKI O TE REO MĀORI

Louise Lavulo —

Nau mai hāere mai ki Te Wiki o Te Reo Māori! (Welcome to Māori Language Week!) Our tamariki and kaiako have been very busy this wiki (week) exploring tikanga (protocols), ways to kōrero (speak), whakarongo (listen), pānui (read), waiata (sing), tākaro (play), ako (learn), and te toi (the arts). Our kaiako (teachers) explored some rauemi (resources) and traditional Māori games that were also taught to the ākonga (students).

Here are three Māori activities that some children tried in PE.

Tēnei te mihi kia tatou i tūhono mai ki te wā tuku Māori! (Thank you everyone for joining in with the Māori Language moment.) There were over 1 million people across Aotearoa who registered to participate on Monday at 12pm to sing and kōrero and we are happy that we were part of it! Ka mau te wehi! (Awesome!)
