South African Art in Room 11

Grant Arendse —

The students in Room 11 have been working hard on their paintings inspired by the work of South African artist Esther Mahlangu. Her work is known for having geometric shapes, bright colours, symmetry, and strong black outlines.

Once completed, we explored the concept of perspective, and had lively discussions about the meaning behind each artwork. What we found interesting was that even though we were looking at the same painting, we could all have different interpretations of what we were seeing. It was also a lot of fun coming up with titles for our artworks.
