Principal’s Message

Sue Cattell —

Ni hao 🌸

It was so good to see so many parents attend the Keeping Ourselves Safe (KOS) parent information evening on Tuesday. Senior Constable Murray Fenton and a panel of teachers talked though the programme and answered the questions put to them. We all want our children to be safe,  in the many forms that takes, from physical, to emotional, to cyber, and more. Our children have the right to not be abused or neglected in any way at any time, and this programme talks about that. There are two programmes we follow, one for children in Years 0-3 and the other for 4-6 (there are programmes beyond this for Intermediate and High Schools). More information is available on the links: Years 0-3 Years 4-6. If you have any questions, please ask your child’s teacher, one of the Deputy Principals, or myself.

With it being Chinese Language Week this week, it has been lovely to pop into classes and be greeted with ni hao and then thanked with xiexie. Embracing all the languages and cultures in our schools is part of our strategic aim, and learning the basics of language is a good start.

The school holidays begin this afternoon, and school will be closed for two weeks. We reopen on Monday 14 October at the usual time. I hope you use this holiday time for your children to have a rest, to recharge ready for the next term, and to refocus on their goals.

I also wish our Chess Team all the best as they compete in Palmerston North at the New Zealand finals tomorrow.

Have a lovely holiday time everyone.
