Principal's Report

Sue Cattell —

Kia ora whānau. We have been very fortunate to have an amazing art teacher working in our school this year, one day a week. Mrs Jo Bradbeer has been working with the senior classes on pieces of art including clay, murals and 3D models. This photo above shows the latest beautiful art installation she has created with the students - one containing many, many butterflies. Each of these is unique, just like us, and together they create something visually beautiful and powerful that only works so well because they all came together. Next year, our Board has supported us to have Jo working four days a week (Term 1 only), so more children, and teachers, can experience her immense expertise in this area. We recognise the impact developing creativity has on other curriculum areas.

As I mentioned last week, please keep checking the calendar for events and dates as the end of year rapidly approaches. Having the Hero notifications turned on, also helps keep you up to date with everything. A reminder too, that you will receive notification of the class your child will be in next year on Monday 12 December, and the next day they will visit with their new teacher and classmates.

Just a reminder that we are a lolly-free school, while it is nice that students would like to bring candy canes to school for their friends, please save them for treats at home.  The only lolliers we allow are the ice blocks that we use for fundraising.  Thank you.

I am looking forward to the Festival of Song next Friday, 9th December, and hope to see as many of you as possible at this. We ask that the children arrive back at school at 5pm, ready for a 5.30pm start. Don’t forget to bring your picnic blankets and something to eat and drink.

Have a great weekend everyone!
