Kahui Ako Hui

Charlotte Barrance —

Milford School is part of a Community of Learning - The Pupuke Kāhui Ako. Our Community of Learning comprises Westlake Boys and Girls High Schools, TNIS, Wairau Intermediate School, Forrest Hill School, Takapuna Primary School, Sunnybrae Normal School, Sunnynook Primary and Milford School. We have approximately 9000 students in our Community of Learning of which 600 identify as New Zealand Māori.

The Pupuke Kāhui Ako Māori Leaders Hui took place last Friday at Milford School with representatives from all our schools in attendance. The group has been formed to strengthen teaching practices across all of our schools and develop shared understandings about how we might collectively build capacity in the areas of whanau engagement, Te Reo and Tikanga Māori. This group of passionate teachers aim to provide more consistent opportunities for our learners to experience authentic cultural connections across the learning pathway as they move through the schools in our Pupuke Kāhui Ako.
