COVID 19 IMPACT ON SPORTS AT MILFORD SCHOOL

Louise Lavulo —

As you are aware, Covid-19 has had a negative impact on events, organised sports and many other facets of people's lives. From an organisation perspective, this has also been challenging with the change of dates, transportation, safety forms, fees or even refunds for the sports that are organised through schools.

For the remainder of the 2020 school year, we have decided it is not viable to enter sporting events/teams such as Football, Junior Tough Guy & Gal Challenge, Rippa, Touch Rugby or Gymnastics. The constant cancellations are disheartening for all of us. A refund will be credited to KINDO for the families that paid for Rippa & the Junior Tough Guy & Gal Challenge.

The sporting activities that were already entered at the beginning of Term 3 (Basketball, Flippa Ball, Hockey & Netball) will resume if and when the venues allow, otherwise they too may end up being cancelled; further details will come out about this. At this stage, the cluster cross country and cluster athletics will proceed with the amended dates.

We understand how disappointing this will be to many students and families, though we will look to organise some activities at school or perhaps against another school later in Term 4 to provide some additional opportunities for them.
