Room 1 News

Bev Boyd —

R2D2 took a moment out of his busy filming schedule to spend the week in Room 1. Students wondered, why would the robot be visiting their class ? Perhaps a trainee teacher of the future. It ignited many creative ideas for writing.

Snapshots from Room 1’s Writing ( not their completed work)

The Encounter
As I stepped into the room I had butterflies in my tummy. Was this some sort of test, or worst, detention? I had been called over the school’s loudspeaker to come to the school hall immediately.
As I quietly opened the door to take a peek I could not believe my eyes. Standing on the stage was RsD2 and CP30 - stars from the movie ‘Star Wars.’ But best of all, they weren’t toys or balloons, but real robots moving around the stage.
As I looked closely, in amazement, I also noticed, standing silently on the stage, dressed in black robes, wearing two perfect hair buns, was Princess Leia
“ I need you to go somewhere with me” she whispered in a kind sounding voice.

Darth Vader Invasion
As R2D2 cautiously took steps through the misty, marvelous, magical forest he heard a sound of a lightsaber. It felt like it was calling to him. He soon realised that it was Master Yoda. He was unsure if it was a hologram or not. R2D2 stepped forward as slow as a snail.

The Lost Jungle
The classroom turns black and lights start to flicker. A stiff, metal figure walks in silently. Adele is next to me holding my hand tight but I cannot see anyone else.
This stiff figure walks up to me and I notice that it looks a lot like R2D2.
A portal appears in front of me. Should I go in or not? Suddenly there is a loud metallic noise behind me and something shoves us inside. I get the strangest sensation of falling….

R2D2’s Visit
I quietly peaked around the corner to see something so unreal that I had to slap my face twice, just to make sure that I wasn’t dreaming.
Was it really? Was it R2D2 from Starwards? He slowly approached me. I was shaking with terror. He appeared different from the Movie Star Wars because he could actually speak - like a human - a real conversation.
“Hello” he said. “My name is R2D2. Do you want me to show you a magical place in the stars?” he asked.
“Yes!” I yelled.
