After researching and practising Maori design each Room 1 student designed their own feathers, which when put together, created a class Korowai. This was a part of our learning in the current unit ‘How we express ourselves’.

It is really important to think of art as visual literacy. We use a lot of words and language, but visual art is a language, music is a language and dance is a language.

Some students, who do not find verbal expression easy, show themselves to be visually articulate through their artwork.
