Principal's Message

Sue Cattell —

Kia ora whānau. What a fabulous music extravaganza we had on Wednesday evening! If you came, I am sure you would have been as thrilled as I was to see how many of our students took part and showed their love of music. I was very moved by the song written for me, and how the children had been able to keep it a secret, very special. We know that putting something like this on takes a lot of time and effort and we are so lucky to have someone with the passion and talent that Eugenie Middleton has, to lead music in our school. Thank you so much Eugenie!!

In line with the Ministry requirements, our ballot for places for the 2023 school year closes next Wednesday, 28 September. If you know of any children turning 5 between now and the end of next year who are wanting to come to Milford School and who live out of zone (including siblings of current students) they MUST fill in the ballot form which is available on our website. This form must be emailed to admin@milford.school.nz by 3pm on Wednesday.

Any in zone students who will start school at any stage next year must also complete their enrolments as soon as possible. We need this information so we know the number of spaces we will have available for our out of zone students.

As we have done previously, we are again using software called Pluto to place the students in their 2023 classroom. It worked really well this year and helps us ensure we have balanced classes in specific areas such as ethnicity, gender, needs etc. Please do not request a specific class for your child as the programme does the placement. The class teachers know your child and if there are specific children who need consideration, the DP’s will do this. If you have any specific concerns, please talk with the relevant DP.

Next Wednesday are our Teacher/Parent/Student meetings and we ask that you collect your child from school at 12.30pm. Skids are operating that day so if you need supervision for your child, please do contact them directly. If you haven’t yet booked a time with the teacher, please do so before Wednesday.

Have a lovely weekend everyone, and don’t forget that Daylight Saving starts so the clocks go forward one hour, early on Sunday morning. Also, as Monday is the Memorial Day for the Queen, school is closed.
