Principal’s Message

Sue Cattell —

Kia ora! Our school fair is tomorrow, 11am-3pm, and there will be lots to buy and to do. I look forward to seeing you there, as part of our school community, catching up with friends and meeting new people. Many stalls still need helpers, so please check the roster for your child’s class. I want to acknowledge the work of Steph Williams and her team on this fair– it is no small feat to organise something like this. Also, a huge thank you to the sponsors who have so generously donated items. It will be a great day, but it’s success depends on people being there so please pop in, if only for a short time. See you tomorrow!

You will have received the latest update on the Coronavirus situation that was emailed home yesterday. In effect, there is no additional advice further to what we are already doing and we are in daily communication with the Ministry of Education (as are all schools). At this stage, we are advised that all trips, school camps and assemblies should still go ahead. If there are any changes we will notify you promptly.

This week, the Life Education Caravan has moved from our school, and while the children were sad to say goodbye to Jenni and Harold, they have learned some great lessons as part of our Health curriculum. We look forward to welcoming them back again next year.

Yesterday saw our Walk to School event where some of our teachers met with students and their parents outside the Milford New World and then walked to school together. This event is part of our mission to raise the profile of encouraging parents, if they do need to drive from home, to park away from the school and walk to the school gate. We were happy to have the support of Sam Smith from Auckland Transport, along with our local councillor Chris Darby, who walked with us. Auckland Transport also provided hot chocolates and coffees for all who walked, through the Hero coffee van located at school. A big thank you Mrs Melanie Dixon for her commitment to Travelwise in our school.

Have a lovely weekend, and see you tomorrow!
