Garden to Table - Food Donations Needed

Grace Osborne —

Garden to Table is a programme that runs in Year 5 at Milford School. It has been a wonderful addition to the curriculum for this year group, with students wishing they could continue in Year 6.

Every week a Year 5 class spends 3 hours in the kitchen and garden, planting, harvesting and cooking fruit and vegetable based meals to share as a class. The essential life skills learned throughout the year are invaluable.

Running this programme does come at a cost to the school and we are always very grateful for donations of kitchen and gardening equipment/tools.

We would like to try and further reduce our weekly expenses by creating an online live/interactive shopping list that would be shared in the newsletter each week. On this would be any fresh produce and pantry staples that are needed in upcoming GTT sessions. This week’s list is below.

If you or a family member has your own vegetable patch at home and it has too much of something growing, we would welcome this extra produce. If you find you have spare packets of seeds, we would also love to have these to plant, grow and nurture.

During your weekly grocery shop, if you are able to purchase an extra bag of flour, bottle of olive oil, vegetable stock or carton of UHT milk etc, or any other item on the list, it would go a long way to helping us ensure GTT can continue to run successfully.

Any donations can be brought to Room 12 in the junior block or dropped off at the school office.
