On Tuesday 2nd July, 54 Milford School students attended the Junior Tough Guy & Gal Challenge in Helensville with Mrs Lavulo. The Year 3/4 students had a 1.5km obstacle course and the Year 5/6 students was 3km.

It was a wet, windy day and all entered the event with excitement, nerves, clean clothes and their shoes. All students emerged with smiles, dirt and a few came back with one or none of their shoes, having them claimed by the muddy farmland. 

This event is a great test of their resilience and to encourage children to be active and get a feel for running and obstacle courses. There were no official finishing places, though I was keeping track of our students as they returned. Ex-student Marcus Nair was the 2nd runner back overall for the event and the following students were the first 3 back in their age event for our school group:

YR 3/4 GIRLS: Sophia Wilson, Ashleigh Robertson, Rebecca Young

YR 3/4 BOYS:  Cam Gordon,Noah Plowman,Hayden Nair

YR 5/6 GIRLS:  Zoe Plowman, Samara Howden-Waugh, Danielle Robertson

YR 5/6 BOYS: Joseph Hemphill, Boston Quiding, Joe Roberts
