Year 5 Trip - Chelsea Sugar Refinery

This Thursday, half of the Year 5 students visited the Chelsea Sugar Refinery to learn about the production of sugar. We went on a train tour - the train had no tracks. We observed the different stages of sugar - from the ship to the shelves in the supermarket. The baking class was enjoyable. We made delicious chocolate chip biscuits with a partner. Boxed them up and some survived the journey to get home - but many needed to be eaten. The interactive room taught us cooking skills, about the sugar plant, the history of the area and olden-day cooking tools. That concludes our trip. We loved it and would gladly go back.
