Y5 MERC Camp
Earlier this week,100 Year 5 children, 8 volunteer parents and 4 teachers prepared for two days at MERC in Long Bay. We set off in the wind and rain and arrived with a range of emotions.
Children joined in with rogaining, climbing, abseiling, marine biology, survival skills and slingshot. The sounds of laughter, team-building, risk taking and fun was carried by the wind around Long Bay Regional Park as the children explored new ideas and learning together.
Day two dawned with slightly less wild weather and a group of sleep-poor children filled their day with more activities, including archery, stack'em and the giants ladder, lots of food and smiles.Children arrived back at school on Tuesday evening feeling tired, but proud and excited to have learnt new skills, made new friends and challenged their limits.A selection of photos below proves that it doesn't have to be sunny to have fun and push those boundaries. Well done Year 5!
