Whānau Harakeke Learning Through Play
This week, our young scientists of Whanau Harakeke continued their exciting exploration of sinking and floating. With keen observation, they predicted the fate of various objects, explaining their reasoning and drawing insightful conclusions. By linking mass and surface area to buoyancy, our little thinkers demonstrated the learner profile attribute of Thinker.
Our curious learners took their investigations further by experimenting with their own objects at our floating and sinking stations. This station proved to be a hit with all the children and stimulated much discussion.
Additionally, the students channeled their inner inventors, using recycled materials to construct imaginative inventions. Children experimented with different types of joins; including flange, hinge, and lashing, as they joined recyclable materials together to create their inventions.
Students delved further into the key concepts of Function, Change, and Causation, discussing the function of their inventions, reflecting and improving them as they created.
It is truly inspiring to witness our students' enthusiasm as they engage in hands-on learning, exploring, and thinking critically.
