Takapuna Art Mural - Pupuke Kahui Ako

Charlotte Barrance —

We are really excited to be sharing with you the finalized digital mural that six of our talented Milford students have contributed towards. They were - Flynn Barrance, Jafar Hosseini, Joshua Wild, Melissa Kim, Ashleigh Robertson, and Bailey Li.

These students were part of a much bigger collaborative group who worked with other students from our nine Pupuke Kahui Ako schools to produce a mural based on the natural world of the north shore. The mural is 53 meters long and will be displayed in Takapuna from the end of the year.

We would like to thank the teachers involved for their mahi, which made this amazing project possible, as well as acknowledge the support of all our Principals. All our nine schools are represented in this collaborative outcome. Students were lucky to work alongside Panuku Creative Director, Emma Jane Ormsby who guided their artworks and taught them about the background to traditional Māori designs which were incorporated in the artworks. Emma then collated the individual designs into this amazing mural which reflects the kaupapa of our COL so well. Keep an eye out for this stunning artwork.
