Year 3 - Life Education

Dani Malatios —

The Year three children were very excited to visit Harold and Jenni at the Life Education van last week! Harold taught us all about resolving conflict and how to be an upstander.

Jenni showed us strategies we can use to help us resolve conflict. We practised identifying different emotions and learned about the different parts of our brain that help us to respond and react to problems. We learned what to say and how to communicate clearly with someone when we are having a problem. We now know that responding to a problem makes it smaller, and reacting makes it bigger.

Being an upstander means standing up for each other and helping our peers when they are upset or feel left out. We found out that we can help others by asking “Are you okay?” and “How can I help you?”. Upstanders help others when they are having a problem.
