Westlake Girls Dance Group Visit
On Wednesday Milford School was treated to a performance by some Westlake Girls Dance troupes. They put on a wonderful show where they showcased the many different styles of dancing. We saw Jazz, Hip Hop, Lyrical, Latin and K-Pop. The girls were very talented and looked like they were really enjoying themselves.
After the show, the Year 2 children were lucky enough to participate in a workshop led by the girls. They got to choose a dance style, then learn some moves and put them together in a routine. They then shared their dancing with the whole group.
To finish off, we all had a 'dance party', involving some freestyling and line dancing. It was amazing to have our older girls within our Community of Learning, Te Kāhui Ako o Pupuke, connecting with our younger ākonga. We are hoping to continue these connections in the form of the Westlake Girls choreographing some dances for us to perform during our Arts Week in Term 3. How exciting!

I liked the lyrical dance because there was a nice girl who gave me a high five and three hugs. The K-Pop and Lyrical dances were my favourite. Bella
I liked the jazz dance best because they taught me the moves, 'throw flowers' and 'kick a beach ball on your back real fast'. Maia
I liked it when the girls showed me the dances. I really liked it when they lifted someone up. Hanna
I liked the girls teaching us some dance moves. It was really fun and it was nice of them to help us learn. Flynn
