Principal’s Message

Sue Cattell —

Kia ora koutou katoa. It doesn’t take long for the students to settle back into their learning at school and this week has seen just that. The classrooms are abuzz and the excited voices tell their own story. The Year 6 students are in full swing with their PYP Exhibition and the groups are inquiring into really rich questions, with both local and global perspectives. Teachers across the school are mentors to these groups, a role I am really enjoying. It is so great to see the passion and skills the students have. We are hopeful that we will be able to share their Exhibition displays with our community in Week 10 (Covid-19 levels permitting).

Thank you for the way you have once again adapted to the Level 2 gate procedures. Most parents are happy to drop and pick up at the gate, and those who want to enter can do so via the covid tracer app or by using the sign in sheet with the duty teacher.

The office ask that if you are picking up your child before 3pm for whatever reason, that you sign them out on the VizTab at the office please? We have had a few occasions recently where a parent has left with a child for an appointment and the relief teacher in the classroom had no idea where they were. Please also remember that a child cannot sign themselves out, it MUST be the parent (for obvious safety reasons).

Next week is Te Wiki o te Reo Māori (Māori Language Week), a week where we especially focus on everyone speaking Te Reo Māori as often as possible. There are lots of activities planned, it will be a really engaging week. Our hope is that the use of Te Reo Māori isn’t just prominent next week, but becomes part of our everyday vocabulary.

Have a lovely weekend everyone.

Ngā manaakitanga
