Conservation Week

Michelle Clark —

Week 7 (4th-12th September) is NZ Conservation Week. As we are all at home there are many activities and ideas that can get us thinking about conservation and the great outdoors. This year DOC are encouraging New Zealanders to: Arohia te Taiao, Tūhuratia te Taiao, Whakanuia te Taiao (Notice Nature, Discover Nature, Celebrate Nature)

The DOC NZ Conservation Week Website has lots of great ideas, including a digital treasure hunt where prizes can be won!
There are many activities that you can undertake as a family to discover nature in your local environment.

The DOC website also has this page about activities for families to do at home, 50 things to do in nature as well as an indoor activities page, and a range of DoC videos - Meet the LocalsThere is also the Livelightly activities page with heaps more ideas as well as digital games and activities on the Kiwi Kids Conservation Club website.

So many resources, ideas and activities to get our tamariki and whanau outside enjoying the environment/taiao.Have a lovely weekend and enjoy Conservation Week by doing something different with your bubble this year. Send in any photos of conservation week activities to admin@milford.school.nz and we will add them to next week's newsletter.
