Last Night of the Proms

On Saturday and Sunday the Milford School Year 4 and 5 dance group performed in the Bruce Mason Centre and Town Hall as part of the Auckland Symphony Orchestra's Last Night of the Proms concerts. The girls had been rehearsing everyday for weeks leading up to their performances, and their efforts paid off. They were incredible! Some of the audience members commented that they were the "highlight of the show".

They were joined on stage with some very famous performers including the amazing Suzanne Lynch. It was lovely to have so many staff and our supportive principal, Sue Cattell, come and support the girls. We were all very proud of them. A huge thank you to Paula Snowball for her talented choreography and the hours of time she put in to getting the girls ready for the concerts. Thank you also to the parents who helped transport the children to and from rehearsals and concerts.

Last Saturday we performed at the Bruce Mason theatre with the Symphony Orchestra. On Sunday we danced at the Town Hall. The first dance was from Romeo and Juliet. The second dance was called Sailor's Hornpipe. When we did our first dance I tried to smile on the outside but got really, really nervous on the inside. My hands sweated so badly. After awhile I got used to the place. When I looked at the audience, they seemed to like our dance. Finally we finished, then headed backstage. We seemed to have the loudest claps. After awhile it was time to go home. I really hope we do it again.
