STEM 2020

Nicole Brown —

Next year your child will be participating in many exciting S.T.E.M. engineering projects that will get them involved with Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. These projects are hands-on, engaging, and relevant to the real world. Students will have access to a “Makerspace” in the Pouaka Room during their timetabled S.T.E.M. sessions. A makerspace is a place where students can gather to create, invent, tinker, explore, and discover using a variety of tools and materials.

We need your help collecting materials to use in these sessions. I have listed what we are looking for below. Please do not send anything outside this to school for the time being as our storage space is limited. Please ensure that all materials are clean and dry.

· tissue boxes

· cereal boxes

· bubble wrap

· egg cartons

· cardboard rolls of any size

· plastic lids of any size

· Pringle canisters

If you come across any other random craft or recycled item that you think could be useful just email me at nicole.brown@milford.school.nz and I’ll let you know if we can use it.

I look forward to introducing your child to a world of scientific inquiry and discovery. Thank you for your support in this endeavour!
