Principal's Message

Sue Cattell —

Kia ora whānau. While the weather has been fickle, to say the least, we have still managed to have many of the planned outdoor activities. The Year 0/1 athletics morning went ahead, as did the Year 3 and Year 4 activities. We have our fingers crossed for the Festival of Song tonight as there is no save date and the children are very excited for it to happen. We cannot use the hall as we wouldn’t fit and would exceed the capacity numbers for fire safety. Please bring a raincoat and an “it’s only a bit of rain” attitude. If it is torrential we will have to cancel and will let you know this afternoon via Hero.

On Monday morning, I will send a letter to you all, through Hero, which will inform you of the teachers for next year and who will be teaching in each class. At midday, our Hero system will go live which means you can see your child’s summary report comment, learning graphs, and effort grades for each key curriculum area and specialist subjects. You will be able to see and download (if you wish) everything they have done this year. It will also show their 2023 class and teacher.

Also by Tuesday, the 2022 Yearbook will be given out. This is given to everyone who has paid their activity contribution as the cost has been included within that. It looks fabulous and is a lovely recap of the school year.

As I write this I am excited for my farewell assembly which will be this afternoon, and am humbled by the messages from so many of you. I have been asked if today is my last day - no it isn’t, as I am here until the end of the school year (next Thursday).

Next Wednesday our Year 6 students have their very special Graduation Assembly and evening dance, a big day for them as they leave our school to move on to the next one. This group of students are exceptional, and the leadership and student-led actions they have shown are impressive.

Have a lovely weekend everyone!
