Principal’s Message

Sue Cattell —

Kia ora koutou katoa. What a fabulous atmosphere in the school on Wednesday at our Student-Led Conferences. It was so lovely to see and hear the great learning conversations that were happening. Thank you to those who came (so many of you) and for being such active participants in the conferences with your child. These conferences place the child as the leader, and present an opportunity for them to prepare, reflect on, share, and discuss evidence of their learning and growth.

The Shore to Shore event is on this Sunday and we are eagerly awaiting the result to see if we are top school. Even aside from this, it is a great family day and I am looking forward to seeing everyone at the Milford tent after you finish.

Last night was the annual Kids for Kids concert at the Bruce Mason Theatre, and our wonderful students represented the school admirably. They looked smart, behaved well and sang beautifully. A huge thank you to Mrs Linda Vane who prepared these children so well.

Last weekend, seven of our Year 6 boys and their parents competed in the Auckland Marathon and completed the 11km transverse race running all the way! You can read more about this in the article, but congratulations to Boston Quiding, Carter Howarth, Harry Smith, James Frith, Joe Roberts, Reuben Moot and William Henshall.

This afternoon is our whole school assembly which will be led by the Year 1 team. This assembly is always a highlight of the year as the ‘cuteness’ factor is certainly on display. How the Year 0 and 1 teachers manage to have these young students so organised is really impressive! It starts at 2.15pm in the school hall and all our community are welcome to attend.

Have a lovely weekend everyone!
