Gratitude and Visualising

Ellen von Collas —

Last week the Year 3 children were encouraged to write an acrostic poem, as well as a letter, to show their gratitude. It was wonderful to read about their gratitude for simple but important things, including food, trees, bike rides, and trust. Here are a few more ...

I'm grateful for -

  • "television so that people know what's going on in the world" - Eshaal, R19
  • "family" - Hugo, R20
  • "jam for my sandwiches and toast" - Ben, R21
  • "technology" - Hannah, R18
  • "you, Miss Armstrong" - Dylan, R21
  • "trees, ocean, nature" - Aston, R20
  • ''my friend" - Ryder O, R18
  • "awesome teachers" - Victoria, R19

Their letters were written to parents, grandparents, friends, teachers, dogs, and even the earth!

  • "You never give up on me and trust me to do my best" - Emily, R19
  • "I particularly love it when you come to give me hugs in the morning" - Macklin, R21
  • "Thank you for helping me to ride my bike" - Caleb, R19
  • "You taught me everything about life and so much more" - Euan, R20
  • "I love you when you talk to me before going to sleep at night" - Ebad, R19
  • "I love how you [Miss McPherson] laugh and read stories" - Hagar, R20
  • "Thank you [earth] for making the rain fall to make the beautiful wild places of the world" - William, R18
  • "It makes me smile when you laugh at my jokes even if they're weird" - Mina R, R20
  • "I love it when we paint, bake and skate together. I'm so glad you are my big sis." - Eshaal, R19
  • "Thank you [dog] for being a lick monster, ... for listening to me and making me laugh" - Sadie, R18

Have a look at the photos to see some of their responses.

This week we asked the children to visualise, by listening to the author's clues, as they read about a strange creature called a nogard. Have a look at some of their wonderful interpretations of what they read.
