Principal’s Message

Sue Cattell —

Kia ora koutou katoa. One of the exciting outcomes of being in our Kahui Ako are the closer links we have with our neighbouring schools. Just yesterday our Library was abuzz with happy children from Westlake Girls High School and Milford School sitting and reading together in pairs. Michelle Clark, our Year 5 Team leader, liaised with Lucy Robinson at WGHS on ways to enhance reading for some of our students. Lucy brought a large group of girls to our Library before school to read with our students, and this will be an ongoing initiative on Thursday mornings. The Library was so full of students they were spread out right up the stairs and into the breakout room (see photos above and below)! A big thank you to all involved.

This week is Bullying-Free Week, culminating in Pink Shirt Day today. Thank you for sending your child to school in their pink tops (or close to it) today which helps raise awareness of this issue.

With our winter sports well underway, we do ask that you pay any outstanding fees as soon as possible as we have had to pay all team fees already. If there are financial hardship reasons you cannot pay at present, please do let me know. We certainly don’t want money to be a barrier for children to play sport.

As the weather is in that changeable phase, please do ensure you pack a raincoat in your child’s bag each day. We have noticed that it can be mostly fine during the day and then pour down at 3pm!

Have a lovely weekend everyone!
