Bayswater Park Festival of Football ⚽

Scott Polkinghorne —

On Thursday Milford School entered a Year 3/4 team and a year 5/6 team into the Bayswater Park Football Festival along with 20 other North Shore schools.

The Year 5/6 team started strong with a big 9 nil win, unfortunately they lost the next two games with close score lines and then finished the round robin part of the tournament with a hard fought 1 nil win, placing them in the Plate round semi-finals. After a nerve wracking 2-1 win it was finals time. Sadly they were outplayed and finished second in the Plate division.

The Year 3/4 team had a great tournament going through the round robin section undefeated with some big wins. They made it into the Championship round semi finals, with another good win, it was finals time. During a hard fought match, scores were equal at full time, so extra time golden goal was needed. Unfortunately a goal was conceded and the team finished in second place. With all the tears after the game it was easy to tell how much the tournament meant to the players.

Thanks to Simon for coaching and to the parents who provided transport and support on the sideline.
