Principal’s Message

Sue Cattell - October 24, 2019

As you will be aware, we are part of a Kahui Ako/Community of Learning. Our Kahui Ako has nine schools and some pre-school centres in it. Over the past few terms, four of our students have been involved in inquiry groups where they collaborate with students from the other Kahui Ako schools on inquiries connected to our achievement challenges. It has been quite special to see our students building connections and working with students and leaders from other schools, especially the Intermediate and Secondary schools. These students recently presented to the Principals group which was very exciting and I was so proud of what they have achieved. Well done to Sasha Shepherd, Hannah Smith, Timothy Sun and Gus White.

Congratulations to the boys’ basketball team who played the opening game for the NBL Breakers last Sunday at Spark Arena. These opportunities are rare, and we are so proud of the team for being chosen. A huge thank you also, to Richard Sun who coaches them.

Speaking of basketball, congratulations to Maxwell Olsen-Smith and Timothy Sun for being selected for the North Harbour basketball U11 A team this year. They played in the Auckland Supercity Basketball Championship last weekend and won! Well done boys!

If you haven’t booked in your Student-Led Conference for Friday 8 November, there is still time. Please do book your 30-minute time slot in the classroom, and there are times between 8.30am and 4.00pm. For further information please check the notice that was emailed home and is also attached here.

A reminder that the PTA run Halloween-themed disco is happening next week on Friday 1 November. Please ensure your child has their ticket ahead of time as there are no door sales. At this stage numbers to the Year 5 and 6 event are not enough for it to be held, so please ensure that if your child is wanting to attend, they purchase a ticket before Wednesday next week.

Have a safe and happy long weekend!
