Gardening Club News 🥦🥕

Jillian Sommers and Ellen von Collas —

We had a great turnout at Gardening Club yesterday, our first day of Term 2 Gardening Club, after our lockdown period.

Just before we went into lockdown, Mrs Sommers, Mrs v.C. and a few children helped to harvest our enormous pumpkin that had been growing all summer. The gardening club teachers split the pumpkin in half and Mrs von Collas turned her half into mini pumpkin pies, which we enjoyed - after sanitising our hands, of course! The verdict: DELICIOUS! I wonder what Mrs Sommers will make with her half?

After wiping the crumbs from our mouths we set off to plant daffodil bulbs outside some of the classrooms. So, look carefully for the little green tips of the bulbs pushing through the soil over winter, and by spring we should have a lovely display of yellow daffodils. At the end of Gardening Club we spotted an interesting insect on our basil plant. Does anyone know what this insect is? If you do, please send your answer to ellen.voncollas@milford.school.nz.
