Whānau Kauri Camp Report
At the end of term 1 Year 6 went to camp at Carey Park. At camp the activities were flying fox , bush walk, bush survival skills, confidence course, archery , cargo net , trolley carts , hobo stoves , swing shot and air rifles.
We also got to do activities with our class. One of the class activities that we did was swimming in the river, we had to go in it and it was freezing cold! I didn’t even get my whole body in and I only went up to my knees! It was so fun and I wish I could do it again.
Another class activity we did was the slip’n slide, it was so cold it felt like I was in Antarctica, WHOOSH! The parents sprayed us with the freezing cold hose and there was lots of screaming. At the end of the slide was muddy grass, our togs were so muddy but that's what made it so fun! Y6 camp was the best experience in my life!
The last class activity we did was poles and planks, this was a team building activity. We had to work together as a class to do some activities, like get through the spider web without touching the ropes!
In the cabins there were six bunk beds and hooks for our bags. On the first night it was tricky to fall asleep because we were all so excited. The teacher had to come in at least 5 times! The second night we all had an amazing sleep, the teachers even said that we were sleeping angels!
At Year 6 camp we had a lot of fun and we were lucky to have a lovely chef who made us yum food. We had butter chicken, roast dinner, a fish meal and nachos for dinner!
The Year 6’s loved camp and if you go I hope you love it too!
A big thank you to all the parents, teachers and instructors who made camp possible!
Thanks for reading!
