Room 10 Report

Charlotte Barrance —

Literacy week kicked off to a great start in Room 10 on Monday - We had Monday Funday and we all talked about our favourite books on a shared class zoom and had a literacy quiz. Some of the questions included "What is Winnie the Pook's favourite game?" and "What creatures are the Wilburforces in Under the Mountain?" Tricky questions but some students managed to get most of them right!

We dressed up as our favourite book characters on Wednesday. It was so fun to see all the different characters - Grumpy Unicorn, Hermione Granger, The Reluctant Dragon and of course don't forget Harry Potter. He seemed to have discovered a spell that created duplicates and we had 5 of him in our Zoom call!

The students all enjoyed choosing from lots of different activities to explore - writing book reviews, poems, plays and reading many books online and off. Distance learning didn't get in the way of having a super fun Literacy Week.

Here is some great writing by Zac Williams:

How To Be A Lockdown Superhero By Zac  Room 10

Lockdown is difficult. Some people are better off than others. A lockdown superhero can help other people who are struggling in lockdown. If you help someone else you will find that you become happier too. There are things that we can do to help other people. People who do things to help other people in lockdown are lockdown superheroes.
A superhero is not someone with magical powers or who can fly or has super strength. A superhero is a kind person willing to help other people. Someone who does extraordinary things to have an extraordinary impact on other people's lives.
There are some things that you can do to be a lockdown superhero.
Many people are lonely in lockdown. You could have a video chat with someone who is feeling lonely.
You could make a poster to hang up in your local supermarket to thank the essential workers who are exposed to germs every day.
You could send some toys to someone who has nothing to do.
Also remember to wash your hands, scan in and stay home if you are sick.
If you do all these things you will be a lockdown superhero.
