In classroom music we have had so much fun over the last two weeks learning body percussion, cup songs, ukulele, chime bars, and xylophones. It has been tricky not singing, but humming seems to work! Our focus is about connection - music connected so many people all around the world and in New Zealand during lockdown! Some inspiring youtube clips illustrate this. We will be composing our own songs about lockdown and connection.

Here is a video clip of Room 6 playing a xylophone song, which they learnt in one session. In the middle children are being open-minded risk takers as they try their first improvisation - their starting point in composition.
