From Club to Community

The flowers and vegetables don't know that we've been in lockdown. They just keep growing. If we leave things in the garden too long, sometimes they spoil, or get eaten by bugs. During both lockdowns we had vegetables that needed to be picked and Jude Franklin, a former parent, who still helps out by watering and weeding our Gardening Club garden during the holidays, offered to take some of our ripe vegetables to the Forrest Hill Community Garden stall.

The Forrest Hill Community Garden is located in the Seine Reserve, on the corner of Seine and Tiber Roads, Forrest Hill. The seedling stand is on the opposite side of the road at Number 13 Seine Road. This little project brings a lot of kindness and joy to the folks who pass by, sharing seedlings, flowers, seeds, worm 'tea', herbs and vegetables for free to our community.

Of course, you are welcome to donate some of your own excess produce to share with others. If you want to grow plants or seedlings for the stand or the gardens which will be up and running soon, it would be welcomed. Phoebe and Dave would love help with killing the grass off to start the garden, or items to help with this, like carpet or newspapers.
