Principal’s Message

by Sue Cattell

I am continually impressed by the abilities of our students when given rich opportunities. This morning, I was in the music room when the orchestra was practising. This is their fourth week of being together, and they are already amazing. I was even able to conduct them for a piece of music! I have tasked them with coming up with a new tune that we can record and play as our new bell sound. Watch this space! A huge thank you to Eugenie Middleton for the expertise and passion she brings to music at our school.

Swimming / Wet Bags

by FOMS

Be sustainable and remove the need for plastic bags for wet togs and towels. FOMS are once again offering the Mum2Mum wet bags as a fundraiser, with monies raised going towards shade sails for the junior playground. Bags can be ordered until Monday 9th March using the order form below. Plain designs are $10, printed designs are $12. There is a sample bag in the office. These are a similar size as regular drawstring bags, and the domed strap can be attached to the outside of school bags - no more getting tangled in drawstring bags!

Flat Stanley Meets Harold the Giraffe

by Ellen von Collas

Flat Stanley has travelled around the world and visited many places along his way. He arrived in our school last week and has joined the Year 3 team to learn a little bit about life in New Zealand. He's enjoying visits to children's homes and exploring our playground and surroundings. On Thursday, he was lucky enough to visit Harold the Giraffe in our Life Education caravan. He thought it was exciting to have a giraffe in a caravan and really enjoyed the lesson on problem-solving and resilience, led by educator, Corinne Kirkham.

Gardening Club News 🥒🥗

by Jillian Sommers and Ellen von Collas

Towards the end of last year we planted a whole lot of vegetable seedlings. Over the summer, some of those plants grew really big. Piper Davis and her dad, Brook, helped water the gardens over the long holiday and they spotted a zucchini that had grown so big it had become a marrow, which, together with several keen Gardening Club members, they enjoyed as zucchini fritters.
