Kia ora! This week is Peace Week and it has been lovely to see the various activities happening around the school. This photo is of some of the peace posters created by Room 11 students. One of my favourite peace sayings from the week was, “Peace begins with a smile”. Such a lovely sentiment and one that I believe could change the world.

Our staff wore green today in a "national day of support" for school principals who're campaigning for a better pay deal. The day of support is an opportunity for school staff to show they back their principals, and to say that if pay parity is fair for teachers then surely it's fair for principals too.

Last week we had five new students join Milford School.

Next Week - August 12 - August 16 we will be celebrating Mathematics Week.

We will start just before 9.00am with any photos with coaches who wish to be in with their teams.

Milford School is moving to a new school app!

A big thank you to all who joined us at the Movie Night last Friday for a fun and entertaining evening. We hope you had a great time and enjoyed yourselves with your friends. We went though an enormous amount of popcorn! 🍿

In the previous Gardening Club news article (Term 2, Week 10) I said it was ‘the last Gardening Club of the year’. I meant ‘term’. Despite any confusion my error may have caused, we have had a really good turnout to Gardening Club this term, with many returners as well as several new members.

This week Room 6 got stuck in to the garden despite the weather challenges.

An Auckland University student (and former Milford School pupil), Jack Julian, is continuing to offer an after school coding group. He has run this very successfully for the past two years, as well as in Term 1 and 2 this year. He is looking to work with Year 4-6 students who have a keen interest in this area.

Some of the students have been trying out speed stacking/sport stacking during their PE lessons and we have even made some available to use during the breaks that children can issue from The Dollhouse (the PE shed for the students in the breaks).

M Sports are coming back to hold fun Football Kidz clinics at the school with our new inflatable pitch. Girls and boys from years 0-6 are welcome to participate.

In an ever-changing and fast-paced, technology-addicted world, it can be difficult to guesstimate what skills our children need in order to prepare them for an uncertain future.
