Principal’s Message

by Sue Cattell

Kia ora koutou katoa. What a fun day it is at school today with so many children getting behind our student kaiārahi in their PJ/Onesie day in support of the charity, Give a Kid a Blanket. We have so many blankets and donations of warm clothes dropped off, it is really great to see. Thank you. The money raised through the gold coins the children are bringing in, also goes to this charity as they often have to buy items that don’t get donated, especially certain sizes of pyjamas. It is a wonderful cause and one we have been supporting for many years now.

PRODUCTION COSTUME Request!

by Sara Baker

Do you have a school blazer, tie and shorts/skirt that we would be able to borrow for a couple of weeks in September? It doesn't matter which school it is, the two don't have to be the same, and it would preferably be for a school that isn't local to Milford. Two of our main characters wear school uniforms, more of a formal type, with a shirt, tie, blazer etc. The sizes we need are around a size 10 for the boys and an 8 for the girls. We promise to take good care of the uniform and have it back to you washed. If you can help, please contact Sara Baker at sara.baker@milford.school.nz

Pupuke Kāhui Ako Combined Board of Trustees Hui

by Paula Snowball and Charlotte Barrance

On Tuesday 15th June, the Boards of Trustees of our Pupuke Kāhui Ako schools came together at Westlake Girls High School. The purpose of the evening was for BOT members to learn more about the rich, collaborative culture that unites our schools and teachers and enables us to work collectively on common goals for the benefit of all. Representatives from Westlake Boys, Westlake Girls, Takapuna Normal Intermediate, Takapuna Primary, Forrest Hill, Suunybrae, Sunnynook, Wairau Intermediate and Milford were able to mingle and discuss opportunities to collaborate and support the mahi (work) that is being done to enrich learners in our schools. All Across School Leads took the floor to share what has been taking place across our Community of Learning to support our 3 Achievement Challenges; Wellbeing, Key Competencies and Community Engagement.

This week junior students learned all about the zones in the ocean and the creatures that reside in them. We loved learning all about the weird and wacky looking creatures that lurk in the deep.
