Absences

When your child is away from school please ALWAYS notify the school office, either by phone (09 489 7216 ) or via the HERO app. Please do this by 9.00 a.m. on EACH day of absence. If phoning the school, leave a message on the answering machine stating the child’s name, room number, and the reason for the absence.

Absences
Parents are requested to notify the school office and their child's teacher, if their child will be absent from school for any reason. This includes single days to extended periods of absence. Events like a birthday or a special day’s shopping aren’t considered valid reasons for being away from school.

If no information is received regarding an absence parents or caregivers will be sent a text and/or email to check the reason for the child's absence when the roll was taken.

Unacceptable levels of student absence and lateness are monitored through our student management system (SMS), and parents are notified of absences and/or patterns of absences. The school follows up on all absences and in the case of chronic absences and may refer the case to the Attendance Service.

Extended periods of absence
Permission from the Principal should be sought when students are away for 4 or more days during term time.

Lateness
If your child arrives after 9.00am they must come into the office to sign in and get a late slip to take back to class. If they do not sign in and have missed the role you will receive a text and/or phone call regarding their absence.

Appointments
If your child is leaving the school for any appointments they must be signed out at the office prior to leaving the school grounds and must sign back in if/when they return to school.

Illness during the School Day
If your child becomes unwell and staff phone to request your child be picked up from school, they must be signed out at the office prior to leaving the school grounds.
