Principal’s Message

by Sue Cattell

A huge thank you to those of you who came to the Meet the Teacher evening on Wednesday. We have a fantastic turn out, and I am sure it wasn’t just the lure of a glass of wine upon arrival! Thank you to the FOMS (Friends of Milford School) who supplied the wine and greeted you at the door.

If they are a new player this year, please register them asap so that I can organise teams before the end of the term. See link below.

2020 Netball Information

by Linda Vane

Milford School has decided to offer only one playing day for all year groups in 2020. In the past year we have found that we have stretched our resources too thinly and have compromised the strength of netball teams. To this end you may register your child in either the Monday competition -Years 1 and 2 Future Ferns which are 4 aside, Year 3 which are 5 aside and Year 4 which are 7 aside. The Wednesday competition is for Years 5 and 6 , both of which are 7 aside.

Basketball

SPORTS

by Louise Lavulo

Basketball and Flippa Ball payment registrations closed last week so we won't be taking any further players. As mentioned in the blurb at the top of the Sports Interest forms, completion of that form 'does not constitute actual registration and guarantee your child being in a specific sport, team, venue or night.' By completing it, it creates a database of names to give an idea of numbers and then we can contact you directly when that sporting activity becomes available throughout the year.

WHARE TĀKARO

by Louse Lavulo

Our Whare Tākaro (House of sports/play) was rebranded last week and we have some wonderful Year 5 & 6 monitors that help to facilitate this for our students. The children take their named iceblock stick with them at Morning Tea, use their manners to request an item to borrow and return it before the end of lunch that day to receive their stick back. This is a great way for our students to have a sense of responsibility as well as have some equipment to enhance their playtime.

YEAR 4-6 KAPA HAKA

by Louise Lavulo

Our Milford School Kapa Haka rōpu (group) is getting underway next week with a busy term as we prepare for a pōwhiri in March. Kapa Haka will now be held from 8.30am on Thursday mornings before school in the Hall instead of during class time on a Friday. Students who wish to partake will need to be committed to ensure that our rōpu is strong going forwards.
