Whānau Harakeke/Year 1 Learner Profile Attributes Certificates

Hana RheeFebruary 28, 2025

Our Learner Profile Attribute this week is Caring. Being caring means showing kindness, empathy, and concern for others, including people, animals, and the environment.

For children in Year 0/1, this means that we use kind words, help others when they need it, and take care of our surroundings. We show that we care by being gentle with our friends, sharing, and thinking about how others feel.

Here are some ways to support your child in becoming caring:

  • Encourage kindness: Talk to your child about ways to be kind to others, such as sharing, helping, and using kind words.

  • Model empathy: Help your child understand different emotions by discussing how others might feel in different situations.

  • Care for the environment: Involve your child in looking after nature, such as picking up litter, watering plants, or being gentle with animals.

  • Practise gratitude: Encourage your child to say thank you and recognise the kindness of others.

This week, the following students received certificates: Zara and Joseph (Room 24), Eden and Romy (Room 16), Sophie and Alicia (Room 15), Nita and Hugo (Room 14), Michelle and Ashton (Room 13).
