Principal’s Message

by Sue Cattell

Kia ora! Our school fair is tomorrow, 11am-3pm, and there will be lots to buy and to do. I look forward to seeing you there, as part of our school community, catching up with friends and meeting new people. Many stalls still need helpers, so please check the roster for your child’s class. I want to acknowledge the work of Steph Williams and her team on this fair– it is no small feat to organise something like this. Also, a huge thank you to the sponsors who have so generously donated items. It will be a great day, but it’s success depends on people being there so please pop in, if only for a short time. See you tomorrow!

Gardening Club News

by Jillian Sommers and Ellen VC

Our gardeners have been very busy getting ready for the Summer Daze Fair tomorrow. We've grown lots of little swan plants for the Plant Stall. Just in case you weren't sure of the importance of swan plants in the garden, our gardeners have created little monarch butterfly pictures to go in each plant: yes, the swan plant is the habitat and food source of the monarch butterfly caterpillar. We need the butterflies to help pollinate the other flowers and plants in our gardens. After readying our plants for sale, we harvested our crop of potatoes - edible GOLD!

Netball 🏐

by Linda Vane

Thank you to everyone who has registered to play netball this year. We still have a couple of places for some more Year 5 players. If you are able or know of anyone who would like to coach a netball team, it would be wonderful. Please get in touch with me asap. I still need a coach for a Year 4 team, a Year 5 team and a Year 6 team. You do not need any previous experience - just an interest in netball. Some players also need to register with Netball North Harbour. I will be giving out uniforms starting next week.

Enviro

Enviro Group News

by Michelle Clark and Ellen von Collas

Part of being an Enviro School is our commitment to reducing our environmental footprint on our earth. One way we can do this is to reduce the amount of waste we produce, by repurposing or recycling it. Milford School works with TerraCycle in Australia. We have been a community collection hub for oral hygiene products for several years already. We have recently become a community collection hub for writing instrument recycling. That means all pens, whiteboard markers, vivids, mechanical pencils (but not ordinary pencils). For either waste stream, we need to collect a minimum of 5kgs worth of products before we can ship it to Australia. For every item we send, we receive points.
