Samoan Language Week

Miramar North School —

Thanks to the Nonu Family we have learnt a lot about Samoan Food and Culture.

Tuesday 29th May, Talofa!

It was Tuesday and we were heading to the hall to try Samoan Food.  As we walked in I smelt pancakes and warm Koko Laisa (Samoan Cocoa Rice). We sat down on the floor and Micheal and his dad did a special Samoan prayer.  Then Ma'a said "girls first," it is a Samoan tradition to let the girls go first.  We lined up and grabbed the koko laisa first. Next we went to get pancakes (Samoan Circle Donuts). After that we got taro and banana chips. When I tasted the pancake I was blown away. It tasted super good. Next we tried the taro, it was yummy and I liked it. The banana chips were amazing.
